Imperial Session Recap
The Daughters of the Nile were once again represented on a very high note at this year’s Shriners Imperial Session. The Market Place Booth was easily identified by a large green banner identifying it as that of Daughters of the Nile. It boasted a display of our Supreme Queen and elected Officers, a trifold with pictures depicting numerous Daughters of the Nile events and activities, photos of the Directors of the Daughters of the Nile Foundation, a continuously running informational video and literature about our Organization. Two pop-up banners and a beautiful table skirt banner added color and brought attention to the display. Vesta Marshall, PSQ, and I offer many thanks to Doriann Stein, PQ; Donna Isbell, PQ; Amy Pewitt, PQ; and their Nobles for assisting in the booth set up.
Her Supreme Majesty Dale S. Obernolte, along with members from Dynasty Amenna Temple, nearby Temple volunteers, and Foundation Board members, greeted visitors passing through the Market Place. All were asked to sign our guest book and offered a sweet treat. Many noticed and had questions about our marquee sign announcing our newest ‘baby’ Temple, Shakar No. 165 in São Paulo, Brazil.
The presentation of the annual donations to Shriners by the Daughters of the Nile were given during the opening ceremony on Sunday afternoon. Doriann Stein, 2018-19 Daughters of the Nile Foundation President, along with her Supreme Majesty Dale S. Obernolte, proudly presented checks in the combined amount of $1,977,960. Additionally, Doriann stated that another $900,000 in soft goods and requested items were also donated, bringing our total giving to $2,877,960. The entire audience stood and cheered – Kudos to ALL! Following the opening ceremonies, the Daughters of the Nile booth received many visitors and interest from the membership.
The annual Daughters of the Nile Reception was hosted by Dynasty Amenna Temple in the foyer of the Grand Lodge of Tennessee with many in attendance. Tables were decorated with cowboy boots or guitars, giving us a real Nashville feel. At 2:00 pm, a Session and Ceremonial was held in the Grand Lodge meeting room under a dispensation from Elim Temple. The officers represented 15 Temples who proudly initiated two ladies from Guatemala City – another milestone in our history.
Our presence at Imperial, as well as any public event, serves as an important tool to express our love for Daughters of the Nile and inform others about our purpose. Sincere thanks to all members who assisted in making this year’s booth a success.
