Frequently Asked Questions

Basic Questions

  • I’m trying to register for Supreme Session?

Yay! We're so excited that you're going to Supreme! To register for Supreme Session you simply need to visit CVENT (our registration partner). CVENT is separate from daughtersofthenile.org and you DO NOT need to have a login to register for Supreme Session.

To register ask your Pr. Recorder for the CVENT link in the packet she received or you can simply do a Google search of "Supreme Session CVENT"

You may be wondering why we aren't sharing the link here...well for starters it changes every year and also there's some bad people and bots who don't need access to our fun!

  • Why are you telling me to clear my cache?

A browser cache is a temporary storage location on your computer where your web browser stores various types of data such as web page elements, images, scripts, and other resources that are downloaded from the internet.

When you visit a website, your browser will store some of its content in the cache so that if you visit the site again, the browser can load it more quickly from the cache instead of having to download it from the web server all over again.

The browser cache can help to speed up your browsing experience, as it reduces the time required to load web pages. However, over time, the cache can become filled with outdated or unnecessary data, which can slow down your browser and even cause problems with certain websites. This is why it’s recommended to periodically clear your browser cache to free up space and ensure that your browser is functioning properly.

The process of clearing your browser’s cache may vary slightly depending on which browser you are using, but the general steps are as follows:

  • I’m Having Issues

If you are seeing random notices, errors, or content isn’t appearing to have updated it could be a caching issue.

When you visit a website data is stored on your computer to make the website speedy on each visit. This is great except when updates are made to the website. To get around this you can manually clear the cache on your web browser by following the steps on this website.

  • Why Can’t I Access Some Content?

As of June 1, 2022 we have officially “secured the gates”. Member only content is now secured behind a login page and you must be a current member of Daughters of the Nile in order to obtain an invite code and register for an account.

Temple specific Invite Codes will be dispersed to subordinate Temple Princesses Recorder the week of July 4, 2022. Please contact your Princess Recorder after this to obtain your Invite Code.

Any new members who join Daughters of the Nile will use their Temple invitation code and this should be supplied by Princess Recorder as part of the new member packets.

Account

  • I need an Invite Code

Due to the nature of our organization we've found it necessary to have invite codes so only members of the Order can create accounts. Invite codes are Temple specific and were sent to all Princesses Recorder upon implementation of the gated website. Some Pr. Recorder's haven't continued with their posts after the implementation and were asked to keep the Temple Invite Code on record as it was to be given to all members of that Temple and to new members upon Initation.

We have found that many Invite Codes were not kept on record. We ask you follow the following process to obatin your Temple code:

    1. Contact your Princess Recorder and ask for the invite code
    2. If your Pr. Recorder doesn't have it do the following:
      1. Email [email protected] and CC your Pr. Recorder on the email
      2. State that you are asking for your Temple Invite Code and that the Pr. Recorder is copied on the email.
      3. Once we have verified the Pr. Recorder a copy of the code will be sent to you and the Pr. Recorder

If you are a Princess Recorder and DO NOT have your Temple Invite Code please contact [email protected] and state that you are the Pr. Recorder and your Temple name. Once we have verified you are the Pr. Recorder the code will be sent to you. Please keep this on file and give out to all of your current members and new members.

OASIS

  • Why is my OASIS number different than my Temple membership number?

When building out OASIS we struggled to find a way to implement our membership numbers as unique identifiers in the OASIS database. Our Temples all have members with the same numbers (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc…). With databases each record must have a unique identifier meaning only one member can be assigned per number. This led to an issue as we could potentially have 165 member number 1 (accounting for all historical data) and since a number can only be used once per member we opted to implement OASIS IDs. These are unique numbers that are only used in OASIS, your Temple member ID is still held within the Temple and the system but is not used as a unique identifier.

Think of it as if we all live in a giant apartment building where only 1 person can live in each apartment. This building can only have one of each apartment number (OASIS number) even though we have a ton of floors (or Temples) but several apartments may have the same layout (member number) but their apartment number is different. Could you imagine trying to deliver the mail to an address only to be told that person doesn’t live there? Same principle!

Using the OASIS IDs allows us to ensure that your personal information isn’t mixed up with someone at another Temple who has the same member ID as you.

  • What’s an OASIS number?

An OASIS number is a numerical value that is assigned to each member in the OASIS system. This is unique and works to identify you in our database, just like your house address.

  • When to use? OASIS vs Daughtersofthenile.org

You might have noticed that we have two main systems for Daughters of the Nile: OASIS and the Daughters of the Nile website (daughtersofthenile.org). OASIS is like a central hub for all our member records and operational information, while the website is more for public information like news, forms, and events.

Soon, OASIS will be the go-to place for everything you need, while the website will focus more on public relations and awareness.

Did you know you now have an OASIS number along with your Temple membership number? The OASIS number is special because it identifies you in the OASIS system. You don't have to remember it; it's just there to hold your place in OASIS!
